A Success in God's Eyes

Our 2016 VEX Worlds experience was simply awesome! The Lord very clearly had His hand upon the trip and it was so amazing to see Him work. Although He worked in ways we could never expect, He was working without a doubt!

Without going into much detail, our entire team was clearly supposed to be in Louisville, Kentucky. Some of us flew, others drove, either way, we arrived at our Kentucky home, Wednesday night. The house we stayed at was perfect for us and the size of our team - huge and beautiful.

With little sleep, most of us got up and prepared for the day. We were excited, ready for the long day ahead of us (although some of us may have been really tired ;).

Most of us were very busy running around to different competition matches or volunteering at the event throughout most of the weekend (Thursday-Saturday). The boys partnered with teams from around the world:

On Friday night, they revealed the new game, which is included in this post. I know that some people are already thinking about how to build a robot for next year... :)

One of the things that was a very clear working of the Lord through this trip was the opportunity that some of the team (the parents) had to literally save a life. Long story short, an Indian man fell over the rail in the arena. The fall would have ended in death, had it not been for one of our parents and a few others grabbing him and pulling him back from hanging over the 30 foot drop.

In the end, we did not qualify for finals, missing the cut-off by spaces, coming in at 45th place. Though not the best there was, we still did pretty good considering there were about 200 teams.

Our trip to Kentucky was not wasted though, we did what God wanted us to do. Through going on this trip, we saved a life, shared the Gospel, and let our light so shine! In the world's eyes, we might have failed (or at least not won), but in God's eyes, we won...
